Cool working with coal





To begin with, I just have to say that I am sorry about the title of this post..
Yesterday Emerson and I spent numerous hours in the lab making binding layers for the DGT-devices. They are made out of a mixture of agarose and biochar. The consistency of these filters resembles thin sliced Jell-O shots. (Although they probably would not spice up a party in the same way as Jello-O shots do..)
Anyhow, it was nice to perform the first step of the process of setting up a DGT analysis. These little carbon Jell-O shots (yes, the filters..) will later be used to identify and determine the concentration of different organic pollutants in water.
