Early morning in the laboratory

My Thursday started off at 07.30 in the laboratory for organic chemistry. We are currently doing small projects in groups (Yohanna + Carol + I = Great group, second picture). Today we were going to synthesize Acetylsalicylic acid, also known as Aspirin. Judging by the amout of chrystals obtained it went pretty well, but we will have to wait for the results from the qualitative and quantitative analyses that we will perform next time before we can tell if the synthesis was successful.
After my first class I went over to the lab for environmental chemistry where Emerson were about to prepare a sample for a gas chromatography analysis. I felt really special when I walked down the hallway with this one, carefully prepared sample in my hand. (..I also felt a bit nervous after what happened in the lab the other day because of me.. But I will get back to that in a later post.)
Now I am back home writing on my diploma work. Seriously, time flies when you are having fun and when you have school work to do and both of these factors are included in my life-equation as we speak. YEY!
